Of course, the highlight of our trip is meeting the Tsaatan nomads and their friendly reindeer. As one of the few remaining indigenous groups of reindeer herders, the Tsaatans are a disappearing culture.

After the Grand Opening Ceremony, spectators can enjoy a great variety of competitions involving popular Mongolian activities such as long distance horse sledge racing, ice skating, tug of war, ice sumo wrestling, ice carving, archery and the traditional Mongolian game of shagai or knuckle bone shooting.

This is a land where culture, history and landscape are inextricably entwined, where nomadic herders still roam the vast steppe as they have since the time of Genghis Khan, and where the hospitality of its people is as boundless as its terrain. So the end of trip, we will be amazed by one of the greatest Adventure of Mongolian Winter. Each March, residents of Khuvsgul Lake area celebrate the Festival of Ice. The festival involves a great variety of activities and competitions, including Ice Sumo, ice sculptures, ice skating and sleigh rides, all on or by the shores of the beautiful Lake Khuvsgul. This two-day event is also a shamanist ceremony of offering and provides a fascinating insight into the Tsaatan people's way of life. For a trip with a difference!
