Overview

Unlike most people’s common imagination about desert, Mongolian Gobi consists of mostly vegetated vast steppe and rocky mountain ranges. Due to its size and isolation, inhabitation is very sparse but it’s home to a number of camel herders and wildlife. Gobi is such an enchanting and ancient place that instantly brings tranquility and evokes mysteries to its visitors. During this trip, we will reveal to you the most highlighted components of this legendary desert – Lammergeier Valley also known as Vulture gorge, Khongor sand dunes and the famous Flaming Cliffs.

Itinerary

Day-1.Baga gazriin chuluu – Small rock formation

Our destination for today Bagagazriinchuluu /rock formation/ is a 15 km long and 10 km wide stone massif, is located Middle Gobi. Over 20 kinds of medical herbs and many species of animals such as wild sheep, ibex and marmot exist here, if you have chance you might the wild animals. Surtiinam is one of many beautiful places in Bagagazriin stone massif. This is a narrow canyon with asp, birch, white whicker and elm tree, as well the ruin of a stone temple and the site of 2 yurts where monks lived and meditated since the seventieth century. Day-2.Bayanzag-Flaming Cliffs

Today we will drive to the homeland of Dinosour Fossils to explore it. This is Neolithic site where the large dinosaurs' skeletons on show in Ulaanbaatar Natural History Museum were found. In the west, it is better known as the Flaming Cliffs so named explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. He also discovered petrified forests remain of mammals and in particular the skeleton of hornless rhinoceros, the largest known mammal in the world. Overnight in Ger camp ( B L D )

Day-3.Khongor sand dune

After breakfast we will drive to Khongoriin Els which is called the “Singing Dune” for the sound of the wind howling through the dunes. Its over 180 km long, 3-5 km wide, lowest point 10m high, highest point is 200-300 m high from the earth. Its around 1530-1600 meter a.s.l. This is one of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes and a cold water spring with a river that leads to two small ponds.And we will do camel riding to the Khongor River. Day-4.Yol valley – Three Beauty of Gobi National Park

After breakfast we will start drive to the “Gobi Three Beauties” National Park and will hike to the narrow ice canyon. It is called Yoliin am (Volture’smounth) by the locals is one of the main attractions in the Gobi for its stunning vistas. This area is a home to endangered snow-leopards and Lammergeyers(Bearded Vulture) where “eternal ice” usually remains throughout summer. There you guys might see some wild animals. Day-5.Tsagaan suvraga – White stupa (White cliff)

Early morning we will start drive to WhiteStupa which is located in Ulziit Soum, MIddle Gobi. The name TsagaanSuvarga (White Stupa) is given by local people to the impressive and legendary cliff which is eroded by natural phenomen on. Having 10 million years history, the cliff indicates different times by its colored layers. TsagaanSuvarga is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. Enjoy hiking around colorful Stupa, feeling like meditation in there. Overnight in Ger camp ( B L D )

Day-6.Terelj National Park

After breakfast we will drive to Terelj National Park. It is about 65 km north-east of UB, is a deservedly popular destination. At 1600 meter, the area is cool and alpine scenery is magnificent, and there are great opportunities for hiking, climbing and do horse riding. The park is over 102 million hectares large. The landscape is looking a little bit like the Alps. It is a national park that is started to develop in the 1960s and officially was classified as a national park in 1994. Overnight in Ger camp ( )

Day-7.Back to Ulaanbaatar-Celebrate The End Of An Adventure

Do horse riding to Aryabal meditation temple and then Chinggis statue. Chinggis Khaan statue complex is a 40 meter tall, Chinggis Khaan on horseback, on the bank of the Tuul river at Tsonjin Boldog 54 kilometer east of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. Where according to legend of that he found golden whip. The statue is symbolically pointed east towards his birthplace. It is on top of the Statue Complex, a visitor center, itself 10 meter tall with 36 columns representing the 36 Khaans from Chinggis to LigdenKhaan. It was built in 2006. Overnight in ( B L )
